“Adventure” continued…in the USA. March 2023

Looking back & going forward – expectations

Time passes so quickly as we get older. Yet what we are waiting for – longing for – still seems to be “not yet”…..and how we long for fulfilment!

I’m reminded of so many patriarchs and prophets in the Bible who waited and longed for prayers and promises to come to fruition. Some saw the answers and others wondered whether they had. Here are just a few.

ABRAHAM

“You will be the father of many nations..”

Genesis 17:4

HABBAKUK

For the revelation awaits an appointed time, it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come…

Habbakuk 2:3

ELIJAH

“And Elijah said to Ahab “go eat and drink for there is the sound of heavy rain…So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees. ‘Go and look towards the sea,’ he told his servant. And he went up and looked. ‘There is nothing there,’ he said. Seven times Elijah said, ‘Go back.’ The seventh time the servant reported, ‘A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.’ So Elijah said, ‘Go and tell Ahab, “Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.” ’ Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rainstorm came on and Ahab rode off to Jezreel.”

DANIEL

“‘Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, Lord, look with favour on your desolate sanctuary. Give ear, our God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.’”

JOHN THE BAPTIST

“When the men came to Jesus, they said, ‘John the Baptist sent us to you to ask, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” ’ At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, illnesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. So he replied to the messengers, ‘Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.”

Luke‬ ‭7‬:‭20‬-‭22‬ ‭NIVUK‬‬

Even as I chose these quotes and researched them I was wondering whether they were the best ones to select because God’s Word is full of accounts of people who waited for fulfilment.

2022….expectations fulfilled?

I have just been alerted to a recent subscriber who kindly “liked” last year’s post in February 2022 called “Adventure”.

This set me thinking.

I hadn’t written anything since last October; probably because in November 2022 Roger and I were called out to the USA on an urgent mission to help family members.

This mission has proved to be very challenging and has involved us being here, on and off, for the last 4 months.

But God has a way of taking a crisis and a fresh adventure and joining them to old expectations.

In the process we see the beginning of a fulfilment of something awaited.

“Walking in revival” … to be continued!

Dear readers….watch this space and, if you’re interested, read last year’s post entitled “Adventure” as I’m going to continue our story about how “walking in revival” has brought us over 3,000 miles to continue that “walk” in 2023.

For now, I’m signing off. With love.

PS you may have to use the search box and the word “adventure” to find the February 2022 blog!
