When I was 12 we were taught about Commonplace Books at school.
As I remember it, the idea behind this type of journal was a gathering place for illustrations, writings and anything else that was meaningful to the person compiling the book.
My first Commonplace Book included poetry written by others.
Often I didn’t understand the poetry, but I enjoyed the form.
Later, as I grew older, I found that certain poems really touched a chord, as music does…or coloured the landscape, as pictures do.
The illustrations here are from my Poetry & Reflections Book 1990.
